Here, at last, is the conversion of Seuss's (hmmm. S'sessu aberrant spelling?) Grinch as an NPC for your Star Frontiers holiday campaigns. Especially useful if you're trying to capture that Star Wars Holiday Special feel using the Star Frontiers setting and rules.
"It came without boxes. It came without bags!"
-Grinch #2236 from the Planet Hooo
Grinches are 1.3 meter tall humanoids covered with greenish fur. They are asexual beings, reproducing via an advanced form of cloning. They have cartiliginous skeletons (not osteoid like many other endoskeletoned beings) that allow them to slink about like snakes, if needed. Their hearts are tiered, capable of expanding or contracting their volume by threefold, depending on the Grinch's activity.
Grinches are more notorious than even wet Gorlians for being cantankerous and surly, especially around holiday seasons. They are so nasty that they tend to live in isolation, far from civilization. They prefer the taste of dog flesh to any other food, even Roast Hooo Beast.
Grinches have senses on par with humans except that their hearing is extremely sensitive to music, particularly holiday music. Holiday music is exceptionally irksome to these creatures and they will do anything to escape from it or to destroy its source.
Due to their oddly structured hearts, Grinches have the ability once per year to triple their strength score for one amazing effort. This is good for any strength check the Grinch character wants to perform, but it so drains the creature that it needs to recuperate for at least one year before reattempting such a feat.
Grinch characters are created with the following ability modifiers:
